Conspiracy to Cry?

A Conspiracy to Cry?

Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has violated the confidence of his constituents and dishonored his office by acting as a coach for Supreme Court Nominee Samuel Alito. Never in Senate history has a senator on the Judiciary committee prepped a candidate for the Supreme Court that HIS committee would question and judge.

The truly bizarre nature of Graham’s public relations advice to Alito was on display yesterday afternoon. In a choreographed event, Graham asked Alito if he was “a bigot,” explaining after Democrats had accused him of being one. On cue, Mrs. Alito broke into tears and fled from the room. No less than ten minutes later Fox News let into Senator Schumer for their allegedly brutal grilling of the nominee. Over the next few hours the Republican spin machine played out the story in a concerted effort to make the Democrats appear insensitive and vindictive. The link above is to a Drudge report bit where he either accuses the Democrats of making Mrs. Alito cry. What a bunch of wankers!

For a supposed "law and order" party, the Republicans are the greatest pack of pussies imaginable. First they get so frightened of terrorism that they toss away their liberties like it was yesterday's trash. Then they stage a whinge fest when their nominee gets outed for trying to prevent minorities and women from access to the highest levels of education.

The Republicans and their water-carriers continue to get away with scamming the nation with their ham-handed gestures. When will it end?

Do more, give more, and get back our country in 2006. Enough was enough already.

Mrs. Alito reminds me of Fitanides after a "bad beat" on the river.

I think it was a conspiracy, that is, two or more people cooperating to set up a photo-op.

I posted GOP tactics this way on my blog, "You'll Laugh, You'll Cry, You'll Cover-up"

If there was any doubt that this was all theater, take a look at how the mainstream media has played the story. The cable news networks have made Mrs. Alito's tears the one and only story of the confirmation hearing. It will go down in history with Clarance "uncle" Thomas' pubic hair on the coke can. Did you all see the Drudge report bit? He claimed that Democratic questioning was responsible for the crying jag, without even mentioning that a Republican's comments started it all off. Check out the following from KOS . . . .

The always-alert Creative Response Concepts, a conservative public relations firm, sent this bulletin: "Former Alito clerk Gary Rubman witnessed Mrs. Alito leaving her husband's confirmation in tears and is available for interviews, along with other former Alito clerks who know her personally and are very upset about this development."

What do y'all think about Biden's suggestion that we forego the hearings altogether and go directly to the Senate floor?

Or is that just him grandstanding, waxing theatrical, and honing his filibluster?

I think that's a really stupid idea, for a million reasons. Biden is just grandstanding for his presidential bid. I doubt he even believes in what he said.
