White House Argues for More Torture

We all heard how Abu Ghraib wasn't the result of the Administration's torture policy (despite the existence of the Gonzales Memo). Well, now they are fighting the McCain anti-torture amendment arguing that the CIA at least should be able to torture those who the President wishes to suffer. Anyone who supports this administration now should be warned that they are now unambiguously supporting the torture of many innocent people, including children. Videos from Abu Ghraib and elsewhere show boys as young as 8 years old being anally raped in front of their parents in order to elicit "confessions." Is that “family values?” Okay, so maybe you could make a pathetic argument for why the CIA needs to whack people, or maybe play a little rough, but is there really a compelling reason to sexually abuse children in front of their parents?

Also, where'd you get the 8-year-old anal rapt thing? Just looking for a source...not that I don't believe it wouldn't happen. People being what they are.

I love how the loophole is that the CIA can torture. Suddenly, everyone will be a CIA agent, right?

Besides, isn't this the group so secretive that they don't even publish their address? Will you need a secret CIA identity card to torture?

And will this bring outing to a whole new level?

The 8-year-old boy story comes from an interview with Sy Hersh who saw the video and said that the sound of the boy's screams made him want to vomit. Of course to Republicans this is probably sexually arousing. They are all Gannon clones in private.

The real point of this story is exactly what Doug pointed out, that the torture was PLANNED from the President on down. No reasonable person who read the Gonzalez Memo could have doubted this before. However, now the evidence is explicit, the administration is saying "we need to continue torturing people, please let us." It's hard to understand how even a Republican would lack the gray matter to understand this fact. It's not like one-plus-one-equals-two, it's more like "there is one, can you see it?"

Journalist Says US Troops Tortured 12-Year-Old Girl in Front of Her Brother
21-Oct-04
Iraq War Crimes

ITV: "Suhaib al-Baz, a journalist for the al-Jazeera television network, claims to have been tortured at [Abu Ghraib while held there for 54 days. He said: 'They brought a 12-year-old girl into our cellblock late at night. Her brother was a prisoner in the other cells. She was naked and screaming and calling out to him as they beat her. Her brother was helpless and could only hear her cries. This affected all of us because she was just a child.' He also claims that a father and his 15-year-old son were tortured in front of his cell. He said: 'They brought a man who was wearing a hood. They pulled it off. The son was shocked to see it was his father and collapsed.' When he recovered, he now saw his father dressed in women's underwear and the Americans laughing at him. Mr al-Baz claims the guards at the prison were keen to take photographs of the abuse and turned it into a competition."

Doug,

Found it.

Some of the worst things that happened that you don’t know about. OK? Videos. There are women there. Some of you may have read that they were passing letters out, communications out to their men. This is at [Abu Ghraib], which is about 30 miles from Baghdad — 30 kilometers, maybe, just 20 miles, I'm not sure whether it's — anyway. The women were passing messages out saying please come and kill me because of what’s happened. And basically what happened is that those women who were arrested with young boys, children, in cases that have been [video] recorded, the boys were sodomized, with the cameras rolling, and the worst above all of them is the soundtrack of the boys shrieking. That your government has, and they’re in total terror it’s going to come out. It’s impossible to say to yourself, how did we get there, who are we, who are these people that sent us there.
