MSNBC: "She's Gone": Miers withdraws

In a statement, President Bush said he “reluctantly accepted” her decision to withdraw, after weeks of insisting that he did not want her to step down.

Now the big question is - are both sides going to get the ideological slugfest they're clamoring for? I say: Bring.. It.. On..

Pawlr,

[Sorry to go Off Topic, but … ] Interesting piece in the NYT …

… addressing Big Oil and their profit levels, per our earlier conversation. It’s short, and facts aren’t here in their fullness, but on balance, they seem to support your claims that Big Oil is experiencing higher profits due to this year’s natural disasters. Whether or not it’s egregious to the point of “profiteering” or a high point that softens the blows experienced during low market points, I have no idea. But hopefully the hearings that Frist is announcing will get to the bottom of things to make the truth known. If an extra-market solution is needed, though, I sure hope it isn’t a standing tax, as the piece suggests. Those always end up costing the consumer in the end and will only ensure that, when the market advantages move back toward the consumer, the consumer ends up paying more than they otherwise would have.
