I guess we will not rest until "total victory" is acheived? Meaning what, exactly?

I guess Bush won't be satisfied until every Arab is making pilgramages to Orlando instead of Mecca.

Meaning, I guess, that he needed a speech to try to shift focus away from Miers/Libby!

What disturbs me is that he's going for his winning "argument" (9/11 = permanent war); hope it's not a harbinger of things to come, as in, a way to cure his political woes....

I love this. Dubbya has no clue how to dig his way out of the hole he's gotten himself in. These 9/11 inspired events are completely ineffective except to his base. Maybe that's the idea, to make sure he never falls below 37% or rises above 40%.

The thing I wonder about is how big is his base...reportedly, they were big enough to get Miers pulled...but, then, who cares? He's not running again. Don't get it.

With 51% not even accepting ID (too polluted with evolution), I sometimes wonder how big the base is...

Who knows how large Bush's base really is? The only thing I have to go on is the obvious floor we are now plumbing in the poll numbers. He's been at about 40% for some time despite increasingly horrible news. It's hard to predict how much more evidence of his incompetence would be needed to break through this floor. However, I know Northeaster secular Republicans who hate everything Bush stands for and still support him. I would like to believe that something major might get them to admit that they are wrong, but what more proof does one need at this point? It's all rather crazy if you ask me.
