The Latest Shrill Bush-Basher: Brent Scowcroft

Scowcroft joins the party... jeezus-can the Republican party survive 3 more years of Bush's rank incompetence?

I don't think they can. If I had to guess, I'd say the current climate for the Bush Admin. would rate as a cat. 5 on PEMA's Republi-cane Damage Scale.

It's too bad Republicans are such head-in-the-sand nonothings. If they had ditched this fool for McCain during the primaries just think of the damage they could have prevented - to the world in general. The party is going to be crippled which is bad for our democracy too. It's just a pity that rational thought is such a rare commodity.

Scowcroft has a piece (interview-based, I think) coming out in the 10/31 New Yorker. He came out against the Iraq War in 2002 or 2003 -- he had a piece on the Times op-ed page.

Note how almost all of the sane Republicans are over 60. Scary.

Sounds like a good maxim: "Never trust a republican under 60"

Here's more with a collection of excerpts and quotes from Snowcroft and Bush 41.

Whoops - yes - I admit I actually thought his name was Snowcroft. I think I was confused by his appearance on Da Ali G Show. If anyone hasn't seen it you must check it out - "Snowcroft" is fuckin hilarious.

An excerpt:

Ali G: Did they ever catch the people who sent Tampax through the post?
Scowcroft: No, they did not. And it wasn't Tampax, it was anthrax.
Ali G: I think they is different brand names. Like we say pavement, you say sidewalk whatever. There is different words for the...
Scowcroft: Well, maybe, but anthrax is the germ and Tampax is something very different.
