Global Fucking Warming Is Real

Apparently we're probably already "past the point of no return". Thanks to the business lobby/rightwing axis for ignoring the warning signs and irrevocably fucking up the entire globe.

And to those who take comfort with the idea that climate change will just create a new slew of winners and losers, and that hey, we might be winners! Listen up, deluded jerks: evolution doesn't work that way -- many more species, including us, will be disadvantaged by Global Warming than those who will be advantaged, because adaptations to new environments take hundreds of millenia, not decades to accomplish.

Paul,

Yeah, I have been thinking and reading more and more about Global Warming. It's much worse than most people realize, mainly because of the numerous feedback loops that bootstrap the greenhouse effect.

I have seriously been thinking about how our family should deal with this problem. There's going to be a big rush to the interior as the coasts disappear. This will further exacerbate the destruction of carbon sinks. Yes, some people will benefit, as is usually the case when tragedy strikes. Our land in Maine may become coastal property, although I am not sure that coastal property will maintain its premium value when raked by cat. 5 hurricanes every year.

On the positive side, even most Republicans I know can tell that the weather has changed and know that Global Warming is real. They just can't seem to give a shit about what will happen to the world once they are dead and gone. It's selfishness, but that's the Republican credo, fuck the young.

Funny, we must have been reading the Times story at the same time. . . but I didn't link to it. BTW, Myleftwing doesn't work for me anymore . . .

Wait, I just read what you wrote. . . are you saying that the earth is more than 10,000 years old? But I read in the Bible . . . .

I know - I think they wised up to that account and cancelled it.

As for the winners and losers argument - I was referring to the effect of GW on our food supply. What are we going to be eating when the climate can't sustain agriculture or meat any more?

But we weren't the first to cannabalize our own resource base - just look at the desert that the "fertile crescent" has become today. It was overfarmed, became oversalinated, and turned to desert. With GW we're just repeating the errors of our predecessors. First time tragedy, 2nd time farce.

SOILENT GREEN IS MADE OUT OF PEOPLE!!!!!

No, seriously, it IS made out of people.

I wonder what the story was behind that movie, it pretty much summed up the future the selfish little pricks in the Republican party have abandoned us to. Maybe we will get our revenge by eating their rotting bodies.

C'mon guys. You all know that there's a 0.000000000000000000000001% chance that all this warming since 1850 is natural.

Keep burning the carbon till we know ABSOLUTELY FOR SURE!

That's the smart thing to do.

Doug,

How much do you really know about statistics? Allen says he knows a lot about statistics and so he has doubts about global warming. . . As for me, I am not sure I believe that F=MA anymore, afterall, I got an A in remedial math where we did an awful lot of multiplication.

Deluded jerks is the only way to describe it. These folks are literally willing to let the country (and the rest of the world) SINK in order to protect their pathetically underdeveloped egos.

It's depressing that, in spite of all of this evidence, there's still so little sense being talked about GW. Even McCain-Lieberman was gutted by McCain on May 17 of this year. (and yes, I know that date well - it's what precipitated Ian's early arrival)

I just hope that the hurricanes increase in intensity and that the public can somehow understand that this is a result of their selfish approach towards thier childrens' futures. The average man on the street is so undereducated that it's unlikely that Global Warming science will convince him unless he suffers through a bunch of really bad weather. In a sense that's the silver lining of the hurricane season, it will make the dangers of global warming concrete even to those who have concrete heads.
