Free Markets? Who needs them?

Did you know that free markets are great when they support the GOP agenda, but bad when they don't. This nuanced observation is from CEI. While they pretend to be free market, they support the command-economy Republicans of the Bush administration and seem to feel that somehow allowing the reimporation of drugs from Canada is the sort of free trade older Americans on pensions really just can't afford.

"Free markets" = "Making money for your political contributors and friends"

What I find so disturbing about all this is that the Republicans are destroying the libertarian movement in the United States. Strangely enough, libertarians were closest to the Goldwater, small-government and fiscal responsibility conservatives of days past. Now the command-economy corporate socialists of the neo-Republican party are coopting psudo-libertarian arguments to fight against freer markets.

Why is perversion (sexual and otherwise) the sole domain of the nutty right?
