ARG Poll puts Bush at 36%

First instance of the 40% threshhold breached. 58% disapproval. More details here.

Caveat: American Research Group (ARG) has historically low numbers for Bush over the last 4 years or so, according to Pollkatz. (They're the yellow dots). Note the outliers circa 9/11.

Still, for the past few years ARG's numbers have been pretty much in line with the other major outfits, so it will be interesting to watch if the sub-40 number gets confirmed.

Any way you slice it, that graph shows a nice downward slope.

It's interesting that Republican support for the president has also started to drop. Only 77% of Republicans who took part in the survey approved of the job Bush was doing as president.
