Shame on the Anti-Defamation League!

Senator Byrd gave a wonderful speach against proposed rule changes in the Senate which would prevent the filibustering of judicial nominees. He correctly pointed out how Hitler used the cloak of legality to concentrate his power in Nazi Germany and how it is essential for minority views to be expressed in the world' s greatest deliberative body.

The "Shame" aspect of this story comes from the reaction of the Anti-Defamation League to Byrd's speach. If you read his speach, it contains nothing anti-Semetic or disrespectful to the victims of Nazi Germany. Instead, the ADL is using the guilt of the holocaust to promote an anti-democratic Republican agenda which is clearly not in the interest the often-threatened minority they represent.

Please read the Byrd speach, it is wonderful. Also, check out this article detailing the ADL's outrageous criticism of Byrd's remarks.

Awesome speech; disgusting reaction by the ADL (but unsurprising), and "Jewish Republicans," which ought to be a complete oxymoron (we know the moron part is correct), and your usual raft of rightwing Republican spinmeisters. At least one Senator has the balls to come close to calling this government what it is, though his office dodged the obvious comparison in the face of this "criticism": fascist. Period.
