J.B.S. Haldane's Response, After A Fashion, to Huxley's Brave New World

Daedalus, not Icarus. In any event, there was a response to Haldane's essay by Bertrand Russell, which you can read here.

Obviously, Brave New World was published in 1932, but Haldane and the Huxley brothers (grandsons of Thomas Henry Huxley, Darwin's bulldog -- who was, incidentally, H. G. Welles' teacher) hung out constantly and discussed these ideas. Left wingers had eugenics, too: reform eugenics. See Daniel Kevles' awesome book, In the Name of Eugenics, which you can get here.
