Bill Frist to Go Nuclear in two weeks

The Senate will go on recess for two weeks following tomorrow. Bill Frist will then change the Senate rules to prevent filibustering on judicial nominees. Of course he will do this on a Friday so that his minions can spend the weekend spinning it as Democratic obstructionism.

It appears that several Republicans will vote with the Democrats to protect minority rights. However, we can count on Lieberman and other turncoats to vote with the facists. Nelson is hinting that he supports the "up or down" vote idea, but the plan he has put forward is DOA and I assume it's a CYA measure. I suspect he understands how important this is and may actually vote with his party for a change.

Stay on this. . . it's the most important battle we have before midterms. I suspect that the Republicans will try to make as much hay from the inevitable Democratic obstruction as Bill Clinton did with Gingrich's shutting down of the Federal Government. We have to prevent that.

I'm hopeful that this travesty of parliamentary procedure will be prevented.
