How much would it cost to buy CNBC?

Dean, Kerry and the DNC raised hundreds of millions from millions of individuals and provided nothing in exchange. I have an idea which could change the political equation for all time. We should start a web-based campaign to sell shares in a company which has the expressed goal of buying a cable new channel in order to bring "AirAmerica" style content to the boob-tube. Contributors would be issued stock that would be converted into stock in the new network once it is purchased. Once we have a hundred million or so, we can hit up Soros, Buffett, Gates and other Democratic big-wigs for the remaining capital. Clearly such a network would make a good profit. We are starved for truth.

I did a little research and it seems the shitty cable new channels are nested into larger companies and so can't be bought out. However, there are a number of broadcast networks with market caps. of less than a billion. Emmis Broadcasting Corp has stations in a number of red markets including Tx, Oh and Indiana. They also own 23 FM stations and four AM stations. We might have to start small.

Smart idea! Did you know that Gore was supposedly looking into doing something similar? I wonder whether you could link up with whatever org he's got going. One thing Democrats need to do is not necessarily toe the party line like braindead Republicans, but rather coordinate like-minded initiatives to take advantage of economies of scale and joint effort. Really, a killer idea, Andrew!
