The Quiet American

If you haven't seen "The Quiet America" please do. I have been getting into the cold war shit to get a better idea of how and when we will get out of this mess we are in now. Graham Greene hit the nail on the head and well before the war really started to get out of hand. We have to shift the cultural lense back to Vietnam and the issues of that war. We can't afford to have the same thing happen twice.

Oh, and the woman who plays Phuong is hot as hell.

Saw it when it came out; thought it was the best movie of the year. Probably rings way, way, more true today. Should watch it again.

Robert,

Yeah, I saw it when it came out too. I stumbled across it on late-night TV and found it to be even better the second time through. Specifically, the moral choices of the characters become clearer when you see it again. The idealistic and ultimately misguided Pyle represents the NeoCons to me.
